Bishopstown & Wilton is a suburb of Cork situated in the south west of the city centre.
The area is always buzzing with Munster Technological University and Cork University Hospital providing a constant stream of activity.
Bishopstown and Wilton is mainly residential but there is still plenty to do without venturing into Cork City Centre!
For example there is a large selection of shops at Bishopstown & Wilton Shopping Centres and an amazing variety of local cuisine in the amazing pubs and restaurants in the Bishopstown & Wilton area.
Some of the other industry in the area includes an IDA (Industrial Development Authority) Business Park which hosts companies like Boston Scientific and Trend Micro.

History & Heritage
Bishopstown is a literal translation of the Irish name Baile an Easpaig. Sources show it has been called this since the mid 16th century and in the 18th century bishop of Cork and Ross, Peter Browne, built his country residence there calling it Bishopstown House.
Although not as clear Wilton seems to have been have been named by a team of dyers working at a woolen mill in the area.
Attractions
While CIT & CUH may be the two things that bring most people into the area there are also a lot of other places to check out. For the shopping fans there is Wilton Shopping Centre. If you are looking for a fun night out why not check out a race meeting at Curaheen Greyhound Stadium.
The newly developed Murphys Farm Playground is a great place to bring the kids to burn off some steam.
If you happen to be free on a Tuesday afternoon you have to check out the Wilton Farmers Market in the shopping centre car park!
